Baitlore Terms of Use
Effective date: 10 October 2026
Baitlore is a fishing planner app for iOS and Android, run by Miguel Soares, based in Portugal (full address under Contact, at the end). Contact: support@baitlore.com. By using Baitlore, with or without an account, you agree to these terms. How we handle your data is explained separately in the Privacy Policy.
Your account
- You need to be at least 16 to use Baitlore.
- Use an email address you own, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account.
- Your username is shown on the spots you add. It must not be offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening or misleading, or identify anyone. We change a username that breaks this.
- You can delete your account at any time from Profile in the app. See Delete your account. If your account has been suspended, email support@baitlore.com to delete it; a suspension doesn't take away Baitlore Pro you bought.
Community spots
Anyone with an account can add a fishing spot to the community map or suggest a change to one. Every spot and suggestion is reviewed before other people see it. When you submit one, these rules apply:
- It is a real fishing place, on or next to water.
- Its name and any note you add are not offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening, harassing or misleading, and nothing in it is unlawful.
- It contains no personal data: no people's names, phone numbers, private addresses or anything else that identifies someone.
- It is not advertising or spam, and it doesn't copy someone else's content that you have no right to share.
- It doesn't point people to a place they can only reach by trespassing or breaking the law.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. We reject, edit or remove spots and suggestions that break these rules, and suspend or close accounts that break them, repeatedly or seriously.
You keep whatever rights you have in what you submit. By submitting it you give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, show, adapt and distribute it within Baitlore. Once a spot is published it becomes part of the shared map, so it stays after you delete your account, without your username, and this licence continues for it.
Reporting, blocking and moderation
If you see a spot or a username that breaks these rules, open the spot and tap Report this spot, or email support@baitlore.com. Anyone can report content they believe is illegal by email, with or without an account: tell us which spot it is, why, and how to reach you. We look at every report within 24 hours and remove content that breaks these rules. You can also block a contributor from the "Added by" line of their spot, which hides their spots from you. You can undo that in Profile.
Moderation is done by people, not by automated systems: every new spot and suggestion is reviewed by hand, and nothing is removed automatically. If we reject or remove a spot of yours, change your username or suspend your account, we will tell you why by email. If you think we got it wrong, reply to that email or write to support@baitlore.com and we will look at it again. You can write to us in English or Portuguese.
Fishing advice is information only
Plans, conditions and guides are general suggestions to help you decide how to fish. They are not a promise that you will catch anything, and they are not legal or safety advice.
- You are responsible for following the rules where you fish: licences, open and closed seasons, size and bag limits, protected areas, private land and any local restrictions.
- Weather, light and water temperature are estimates from forecast models. They can be wrong, and conditions can change quickly.
- Fishing near water carries real risks. Check the conditions yourself, and don't rely on the app to decide whether a place or a day is safe.
- Community spots are added by users. We review them, but we can't check that every place is accessible, legal to fish or safe.
Baitlore Pro
Baitlore is free to download and use. Baitlore Pro is a paid upgrade that unlocks the planner's plans: the ranked picks for your conditions, where and how to fish them, and when to switch. You get one free plan per phone; new plans after that need Baitlore Pro. Plans you already made stay readable in Recent plans until their trip day ends. The map, the spots and the guide stay free. The price is shown in the app, in your local currency, before you buy.
- Subscriptions. The yearly and monthly subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends on the App Store, or any time before it renews on Google Play; you keep Pro until then. The yearly and monthly subscriptions may start with a 3-day free trial, one trial per store account across both: if you don't cancel during the trial, the first period is charged when it ends. When a trial or subscription ends, new plans need Baitlore Pro again.
- Lifetime. A single payment that unlocks Pro for as long as Baitlore is offered, with nothing to renew.
- Changes to Pro. We won't take away what Pro includes without a valid reason and at least 30 days' notice in the app. If a change harms you, you can cancel, and if you bought Lifetime you can ask us for a refund.
- Payment, cancelling and refunds go through the App Store or Google Play, under Apple's or Google's terms. You manage or cancel a subscription in your store account (in the app, while it's active: Profile, Manage subscription), and refunds are requested from Apple or Google. If you're a consumer in the EU, you can withdraw from a purchase within 14 days through Apple or Google under their terms; once Pro starts at your request, you may lose that right. This doesn't affect your rights as a consumer.
- Purchases belong to your App Store or Google Play account and, while you're signed in, to your Baitlore account, so they carry over to a new phone with Restore purchases or by signing in. Restoring while signed in to a different Baitlore account moves Pro to that account. Deleting your Baitlore account doesn't cancel a subscription: cancel it in your store account.
The service
We work to keep it running and accurate, but we don't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. We may change features or stop the service; if we stop it, we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before.
Don't misuse the service: no attempts to break into it, overload it, collect data from it in bulk, or use it to harm other people.
The app, its plans, guide texts and illustrations belong to us. You may use them for your own fishing, but not copy or republish them. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, with map tiles from OpenFreeMap; weather comes from NOAA's GFS model.
Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for Baitlore or its support. If you downloaded Baitlore from the App Store, Apple's standard licence terms for apps also apply.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn't allow it, for example for harm caused on purpose or through gross negligence. Apart from that, we aren't liable for fines, lost fishing days, damaged gear or other losses that come from relying on general suggestions. Nothing in these terms takes away the rights you have as a consumer where you live.
Law
These terms are governed by Portuguese law. If you live in another country, you keep the protection of the consumer law of your country that can't be set aside by agreement, and where that law allows it you can bring a claim in its courts. If we can't settle a dispute with you, you can go to a consumer arbitration centre, for example CNIACC (www.cniacc.pt); the full list is at www.consumidor.gov.pt.
Changes
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will note it in the app and update the date at the top. If you keep using Baitlore after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, stop using the app and delete your account if you have one.
